BANNERS
Banners are defined as temporary signs that have letters, illustrations, or drawings and are applied to cloth, paper, fabric or vinyl. The City of Delray Beach only allows banners to be used for "Roadway Banner" and for the "Grand Opening" of a new businesses. For "Grand Opening" banners a Banner Permit is required and issued for a maximum of four (4) weeks. This is a one (1) time event, and banners may not be used thereafter to advertise special events, sales or promotions. The permit is issued for one (1) banner and it needs to be placed on the building in front of the business. It can not be more that 15-FT off the ground and it can not exceed 50-Sq Ft. in area. Banners needs to be made of a color-fast material.
SPECIAL EVENT ROADWAY BANNERS: Roadway Banner Signs may be approved and issued by the Sign Administrator under the direction of the Director of Community Improvement, for special events for City or City co-sponsored events. These banners are only allowed to be displaced at the specific intersections of NE 1st Avenue and East Atlantic Avenue, and Pineapple Grove Way and East Atlantic Avenue within the arch area. FLAGS
Businesses (and residences) may fly flags of any nation, state, or municipality. The specific number of flags allowed in commercial zones are determined by the number of acres. Contact the Community Improvement Dept. at (561) 243-7210 for additional information or refer to LDR Section 4.6.7(H)(3) Flags. Civil and service organizations may also display their flags at respective meeting sites during meeting hours.
However, a flag used as a sign is not allowed in the City of Delray Beach. A flag used as a sign is defined as having characters, letters, illustrations or ornamentations attached to cloth, paper or fabric and used to communicate the presence of a business, sale of a product or the location of a business.
