Permits issued by the City of Delray Beach require Inspectors from the Building Inspection Division to visit the job site and approve each aspect of the work. 

Inspections are done Monday through Friday from 8:30am - 4:30pm (excluding holidays when City Hall is closed).  Inspections must be requested by the contractor or someone connected with the permit - we do not send out an inspector unless there is a scheduled inspection.

There are three ways to request an inspection.  The first is by using Web Permits.  The second is by using  Voice Permits.  The third is by directly calling the Building Department.

The "Results Codes" on Web Permits are:

AP             Approved                                       DP             Disapproved With Penalty
CA            Cancelled                                      DA             Disapproved  No Penalty

Web Permits

Using Web Permits allows you to schedule an inspection 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. 

Inspection requests made before 7:30 AM will be scheduled for the same business day.  Inspection requests made after 7.30 AM will be scheduled for the next business day following the request.  Example:  an inspection scheduled through the internet at 7:20 AM on Tuesday will be scheduled for Tuesday;  an inspection scheduled through the internet at 7:40 AM on Tuesday will be scheduled for Wednesday. 

In order to use this system, you must have internet access and have your Telephone Access Code available.  The Telephone Access Code is located at the top left hand side of your permit.  

The Telephone Access Code is a randomly generated number that is different for each subtrade permit processed.  For example, if you are building a house, you might have 7 permits each with a different Telephone Access Code.  The inspections for each of these "subtrade" permits must be scheduled under their appropriate Telephone Access Code.

Using Web Permits,  you may also obtain inspection results, cancel or reschedule an inspection, and see the complete history of inspections for the permit, including inspections scheduled but not yet completed.

Voice Permits

Using Voice Permits allows you to schedule an inspection 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Directly Calling the Building Inspection Division

You are always welcome to phone and speak to someone to request an inspection.  However, you will need to call during our business hours of 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday, (excluding holidays when City Hall is closed).  Remember please, that inspections phoned in will not be done until the following business day.
