Household Garbage/Recycling

Household Garbage is picked up twice a week while all other services are once a week. Click here for a map of scheduled pick up days throughout the city.

Except as noted below, regular garbage must be placed in a City provided roll-out cart which must be placed within six feet of curbside/roadside no later than 6:00 am on your scheduled collection days but no earlier than 5:00 pm on the days before scheduled collections.  Carts must be removed from curbside by 7:00 pm on collection days.  Materials at curbside at unauthorized times are subject to a Special Collection charge of $11.50/cubic yard.  Charges for Special Collections are added to residents  monthly water/sewer bills.

Residents receiving either curbside disposable bag service or rear/side door service must use their own garbage containers, which may not exceed 50 pounds in weight or 50 gallons in capacity.  Customers receiving curbside disposable bag service should follow the same setout rules as for roll-out cart customers noted above.  Rear/side door customers must ensure that garbage is available for collection no later than 6:00 am on scheduled collection days.   If you are not sure what type of service you receive, please call (561) 243-7219.

Garbage collection crews will not "double back" to collect materials set out after 6:00 am on scheduled collection days.  If you occasionally have more garbage than the City provided roll-out cart will hold, place excess garbage in plastic bags at curbside next to your roll-out cart.  Do not place any loose, un-containerized trash or garbage at curbside.

Appropriate residences are furnished one City roll-out cart.  If you require more than one cart, there will be an additional charge.  Defective carts are replaced or repaired free of charge.   Please call  (561) 243-7219 to report any problems.

Periodically you should inspect your garbage receptacle for damage.  If it is a City provided roll-out cart, the body should be free of cracks, the wheels should turn freely and the lid should be firmly attached.  For the safety of garbage collection crews, damaged carts may not be emptied.  Collection personnel affix a label to broken City roll-out carts – check your cart for this label.  Do not continue to use a roll out cart which has a warning label affixed.

If you are incapacitated and cannot bring your garbage receptacle to curbside, please call (561) 243-7219 for more information on obtaining rear/side door service.  Please clean the inside of your garbage receptacle and ensure that it is tightly closed whenever it contains garbage.  Remember, never place hazardous, liquid, contagious waste materials in the regular garbage – only normal household materials.  Sharp items must be wrapped to prevent injuring collection personnel.  PLEASE DO NOT BLOCK DRAINS, METERS, DRIVEWAYS, SIDEWALKS OR MAILBOXES WITH ANY ITEMS SET OUT FOR COLLECTION.  RECYCLE AS MUCH AS YOU CAN!

Recycling bins must be placed curbside/roadside no earlier than 5:00 pm on the day preceding your scheduled collection day but never later than 6:00 am on the day of collection.  Bins must be removed from curbside/roadside no later than 7:00 pm on scheduled collection day.

Recycling bins are emptied once per week.  If you need new bins, please call 1-866-NEW-BINS or order them at  need bins?  If you have concerns with recycling collections, please call 243-7219.

The City provides each resident receiving curbside/roadside, rear/side door, or disposable bag service with one blue bin and one yellow bin.
