Water distribution is responsible for operation and maintenance of the underground piping network providing drinking water and fire protection to the citizens of Delray Beach.  Facilities include in excess of 430 miles of water distribution and transmission mains, 20,932 service lines, 8,500 valves, and 2,635 fire hydrants. The division ensures water quality through the administration of the Backflow Prevention Program and the maintenance and monitoring of remote liquid chlorine injection points, provides support for the GIS/Hansen data base management system, and provides administration of the central/utility warehouse which stocks commonly used general operating supplies and materials.
