Fire-Rescue Promotes Literacy in the Community

Delray Beach Fire-Rescue will join the Literacy Coalition of Palm Beach County in “Read for the Record”, an international effort that highlights the importance of literacy.  Chief David C. James will read The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle to pre-school children at Katie’s Kids Learning Center, 1429 NE 3rd Avenue, on October 8, 2009 at 9:30 am.

“Read for the Record” brings children and adults together reading the same book on the same day throughout communities all over the world.  Reading with a child is not only a wonderful experience but it also lays the groundwork for strong literacy skills and academic success.
Participate in “Read for the Record” and improve the quality of life in our community by promoting and achieving literacy.  For more information, contact the Literacy Coalition of Palm Beach County at (800) 273-1030 or visit www.literacypbc.org
