Fire Station Open House May 8th at fire Station #1

On behalf of the City of Delray Beach, Fire-Rescue Chief David C. James invites the community to an open house and wellness event at Fire Station 1, located at 501 West Atlantic Avenue, on Saturday, May 8, 2010, from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm.

This is an opportunity for the public to meet Delray Beach firefighters and tour the vehicles housed at the station. Join us for live demonstrations using The Jaws of Life, high angle rope rescue techniques, and a real time E.M.S. medical scenario. Representatives from the American Red Cross, Delray Beach Medical Center, Community Emergency Response Team, Fire Explorer Program and various health organizations will be available to provide information, answer questions and conduct limited health screenings.

And new addition to our Open House event, Fire Chief David C. James will be honoring our local heroes with commendations. These are everyday citizens who went above and beyond to save the lives and property of their neighbors. Refreshments provided.
