If you like to "play it cool" at the pool, the beach, or at a lake, pond, or river, here are a few simple rules to remember.
- It's a good idea to take swimming lessons. Check with your local YMCA, city or town hall, or health club for information about lessons.
- Always swim with a grown-up.
- Follow the posted rules and listen to the lifeguard. The lifeguard is on duty to help you stay safe and have fun.
- The pool is not a cafeteria! Don't eat or chew gum while you are swimming. It could make you choke!
- No horseplay! Running, pushing, or shoving other people can cause serious injuries.
- Get out of the water immediately if you hear thunder or see lightning.
