Worthing Park

150 E. Atlantic Ave.

Worthing Park has been re-designed to promote activity in this previously passive and underutilized park, which was first constructed in 1968 and named after long-time City Clerk R.D. Worthing.  The new design creates a more passive “recreation-friendly” green space to meet the needs of visitors to the City’s downtown core and provides adjacent retail spaces within Worthing Place with the opportunity to create outdoor cafés.

During the two (2) month construction project, the existing 4’ wide concrete sidewalk system was converted into a new and wider (17’) paver brick walkway that creates a plaza-type setting and enables better use of the park and for the implementation of outdoor cafés.  In addition, the project included new Florida native landscaping (i.e., celebration sod, which is low maintenance and more durable, palm trees, shrubs, etc.), irrigation, pedestrian scale - decorative lighting, public art, rounded planter seat walls and park furniture (i.e., tables, chairs, rounded benches, drinking fountain, bike racks).
