What is the Miracle League?
The Miracle League's mission is to provide opportunities for all children to play baseball regardless of their ability. For the past five years, the Miracle League Association has made it possible for children all over the country with physical and mental disabilities to achieve the same dream as their healthy peers - to play ball.
The field will be complete with a cushioned synthetic turf to help prevent injuries, wheelchair accessible dugouts, and a completely flat surface to eliminate any barriers to the wheelchair bound or visually impaired players. The rules of league play are simple:
- every player bats once each inning;
- all base runners are safe;
- every player scores a run before the inning is over (last one up gets a home run);
- each team and each player wins every game;
- community children and volunteers serve as "buddies" to assist the players.
The Miracle League is a non-profit organization (501c).
Where will the field be located?
The first and only Miracle League Field in Palm Beach County will be located amongst the Little League fields at Miller Park located at 1905 SW 4th Avenue in Delray Beach.
What is the cost of construction and maintenance?
The cost to construct the field will be between $500,000 and $750,000. The cost to run two full baseball seasons and the continued maintenance of the field will be approximately $80,000.
How can I help?
The success of the Miracle League of Delray Beach will depend on the donations, sponsorships, and volunteers of anyone in and around Palm Beach County. The Miracle League of Delray Beach has several committees you can join to help in the organization, fundraising and advertising of the league. Also, when league play begins, volunteers will be needed for "buddies" to assist the players at each game.
If you can't donate your time, the Miracle League of Delray Beach is accepting monetary donations to help reach our goal of $500,000.
Where does the money go?
One Hundred Percent (100%) of all monies donated will go directly to the Miracle League of Delray Beach for construction and maintenance of the field. The league is organized and operated completely by volunteers.
