The West Atlantic Roving Patrol was started in response to the crime problems that occurred in this neighborhood.  All members of this patrol live in the area. They are trained by police officers to recognize and report such crimes as loitering, consuming alcohol in public, narcotics trafficking, and code violations.  They patrol in Volunteer police vehicles and report suspicious activity to the police by cellular phone.
