For a period of two years, the Delray Beach Police Department prepared itself for the stringent criteria set by the Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation, and the 276 different standards that the Commission requires law enforcement agencies to satisfy. Of these, there were also 96 standards of excellence recognized by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA), the nationally recognized accrediting body, which needed to be met.
Teams of assessors examining nearly every aspect of the City’s Police Department’s policies, procedures, management, operations, training, and support services. The assessment teams scrutinized every area of the department in great detail before granting accredited status.
