The maximum salary is based on degree and part of a step program.
Police work in the protection of life and property through the enforcement of laws and ordinances. Must engage in law enforcement patrols of the City of Delray Beach by car, on foot, motorcycle, or bicycle. Work is performed under the general supervision of a Police Sergeant and includes working rotation shifts. Must affect arrests either through the use of restraints or trained maneuvers, as well as process and transport prisoners. Must be able to prepare reports using appropriate grammar, symbols, and mathematical computations; and communicate effectively and coherently over law enforcement radio channels, with other officers and supervisors, other agencies, and attorneys. Must be able to gather information for investigative purposes; perform searches of people, buildings, and vehicles; and conduct surveillance. Must be able to perform rescue functions at accidents, emergencies, and disasters when required. Must be "on-call" to work during hurricane threats and "civil" emergencies.
